This year the Loose Ladies Book Club and Bowdoinham Public Library bring you “Martha Ballard, Midwife & Healer.” Maine State Librarians, Alison Maxell & Kelli Burnham, bring a broad look at Martha, her life, the times, a display of artifacts/costumes of this post-revolutionary period in Maine history. Both books guide the program.
Martha Ballard, midwife and local hero who has come to prominence due to the popularity of the book The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon, will be the topic of this free event held at Merrymeeting Hall in Bowdoinham on October 17.
