Kate reached out to Chris Van Dusen to let him know that, in preparation for his visit to Bowdoinham Community School in October, she had chosen his books as the theme for this year’s Summer Reading Program!
Mr. Van Dusen was not only honored but agreed to come do a read-aloud at story time at the Bowdoinham Farmer’s Market on August 3 at 10:00 am.

What a joy to have Chris Van Dusen come to Bowdoinham! 80-90 of you showed up, listened to three stories, asked good questions and got your beloved books signed. Chris was generous, entertaining, and patient. He loved the camper inspired by Camping Spree with Mr Magee (almost as much as Carter enjoyed showing it to him). The farmers market vendors showered him with gifts (bread and scones, and pickled beets and carrots inspired by Mr Magee’s picnic. Thank you to all of you that helped make this day magical . Especially Jennifer Stonebraker who got as obsessed with the theme as I did.
