Library card holders have several options to borrow their books. One option is to come in during open hours on Tuesdays (10-2) and Fridays (2-6). Another is borrowing via the library’s online catalog and picking the books up 24 hours later inside the “Little Germfree Library” box outside the Coombs Building. This service is being offered 7 days a week, with the books being ready for pickup (generally) 24 hours after reservation is placed online. Limit three books at a time. Here is a short video on how to use this system.
We have recently launched a summer reading program which is expanded from our traditional program for just kids. This year, thanks to software from the State Library, we are able to offer an online reading challenge for both children and adults. We are calling it “Read Around the Bay”. In addition to reading, we are also offering a challenge to people of all ages to get out and explore some public lands around Bowdoinham.
To participate, please log in to the challenge website at bowdoinhamlibrary.beanstack.org. Once there, you can register yourself, a child, multiple children…whoever might want to participate. Pick a challenge or two for each participant. Start reading or start hiking. Each challenge is slightly different but you’ll earn prizes or the chance to participate in a grandprize drawing. Log your reading or your hiking on the challenge website too and it will keep track.
If you need reading material, we can certainly get you what you need!
